Abu Dhabi Ports launches a new shipping service to ship goods to Kuwait

The Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the launch of a new direct shipping service that enhances commercial and logistical linkage and facilitates trade with the sisterly State of Kuwait. This new service will be dedicated to shipping rolled goods from Khalifa Port to Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait.

Commenting on the launch of the new marine service, Captain Ammar Al Shaybah, Acting CEO – Maritime Sector and Seven Group, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said: “We are keen in the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, based on our position as a leading regional provider of logistical, trade and supply chain solutions, to harness our integrated logistics capabilities to meet to the requirements of our customers, the growth of their business and facilitating their access to target markets in the shortest period of time and at competitive prices through Khalifa Port, the strategic gateway to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The close bilateral trade relations between the UAE and Kuwait have witnessed during the past few years a remarkable growth in terms of value and type of commercial goods, and non-oil trade exchange between the two countries increased during the year 2022, according to preliminary data issued by the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, to reach 43.5 billion dirhams. Compared to 38.5 billion dirhams in 2021, a growth of 13%, after the value of non-oil exports to Kuwait increased from 12.7 billion dirhams to 14.2 billion dirhams, as well as the increase in the value of re-exports to Kuwait from 20.9 billion dirhams to 21.9 billion dirhams, coinciding with With the increase in imports to the United Arab Emirates from 4.9 billion dirhams to 7.3 billion dirhams.
At the regional level, the volumes of trade exchange between the UAE and the countries of the region have recently witnessed remarkable growth due to the implementation of a set of comprehensive economic agreements and the building of strategic partnerships with neighboring countries, including, but not limited to, the agreements signed by the Abu Dhabi Ports Group with Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey. .
The launch of the new shipping service between Khalifa Port and Shuwaikh Port comes as part of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group’s efforts to enhance commercial connectivity and facilitate trade movement in the region through Khalifa Port.
