Emirates Water & Electricity receives 6 bids for Fujairah F3 plant

Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EEWC), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Energy Corporation (ADEC), the UAE’s leading provider of water and electricity planning, procurement and supply, has received six bids for the Fujairah F3 power plant project.
The tender includes a stake in the project, development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a CCGT power plant, which is expected to have a capacity of 2.4 GW. The plant will be constructed at a location between the two existing F1 and F2 power and water plants in the Emirate of Fujairah.
F3 is the 13th project to be developed under the Independent Producer Program, which aims to increase efficiency and sustainability in the sector, meeting the growing demand for energy in the UAE. This will contribute to raising the productivity of the Emirates Water and Electricity Company – currently 17.7 GW and including approximately 1 GW using solar energy.
The company has received more than 30 responses from various companies indicating their willingness to participate in bidding for the development and construction of the Fujairah F3 project, reflecting the high confidence of investors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The event was attended by executives from ADEC and senior management at EWEC, as well as representatives from various entities working in the water and electricity sector.
Othman Juma Al Ali, CEO of Emirates Water and Electricity Company, said: “We are delighted to receive this number of offers, which in turn support our ongoing pursuit and investments to diversify our energy resources and sustainability in the water and electricity sector. This year, a call for bids for the construction of a solar power plant in Al Dhafra with a capacity of 2 GW, and a water desalination plant using reverse osmosis technology in Al Taweelah, with an estimated production capacity of 200 million gallons of water per day. The two projects in Abu Dhabi are the largest in the world. ”
The competent team from Emirates Water and Electricity Company will begin the process of analyzing and studying the submitted offers, so that the offers can be evaluated with transparency. The final disclosure of the winning company is expected in Q1 2020.
