Flag Day is a national occasion celebrated by the United Arab Emirates on the third of November of each year. This occasion embodies the feelings of unity and peace among the people of the Emirates, enhances the sense of belonging to the homeland and consolidates the image of the Emirates, in addition to providing an example of the manifestations of cohesion among the people of the country. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, adopted the “Flag Day” initiative on 12/11/2012 as an annual national occasion, celebrated by the people of the Emirates coinciding with the celebration of the Day of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, took office on the 3rd of November. The Flag Day initiative reflects the culture of respecting the flag, declaring its sanctity as a symbol of the sovereignty and unity of the state, and using it as a symbol of the homeland and belonging to it.
