The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has completed its survey of the performance indicators of smartphones in the UAE during 2018, which included subjecting these phones to about 8 types of tests to determine their efficiency.

To ensure that the test in the study provides a fair competitive comparison of service provided by mobile networks and devices, the TRA has used the latest equipment  for testing.

The Commission has endeavored to conduct measurements in a professional, reputable statistical manner, allowing for an absolute comparison of the key performance indicators of all phones and technologies used by ITU standards and as a minimum.

The equipment measures “key performance indicators” directly related to the public experience through “external and internal” surveys., this includes video, data, e-mail and voice calls.

The call scenario consists of 90 seconds of time and 40 seconds between calls. Data measurement has been downloaded 200 Mbps and 50 Mbps and 30 seconds of video playback.

All measurements were made using the latest models of the smartphones “iPhone, Samsung, Hawawei.” The test results are a snapshot of the user experience in the network of mobile service providers based on the tracks “external coverage” and public places and installations “internal coverage” during the day time Measurements and using a specific type of mobile device.

Therefore, the quality of service mentioned in the report may not be compared in total with the experience of consumers that other factors such as prices, services, value added services, customer service and support are not included in the survey.
