Jordan’s statistics department reported an increase of 4.6 percent in the consumer price index (inflation) for the first nine months of this year compared to the same period of 2017. The transport group was one of the most prominent commodity groups, which contributed by 1.34 percentage points, cereals and products by 0.99 percentage points, tobacco and cigarettes by 0.65 percentage points, rents by 0.42 percentage points, and fuel and lighting by 0.39 percentage points. While the main commodities groups whose prices declined were vegetables and dried and canned cereals by 19.19 percentage points, clothing by 0.50 percentage points, shoes by 0.01 percentage points, spices and food and other food products by 0.01 percentage points.
