Sharjah Statistics launches ‘2019 Update’ project

The Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah launched the ‘Modernization 2019’ project with the aim of providing updated data on the living conditions of the Emirate’s citizens in general, including orphans, widows, divorced women, people with disabilities, the elderly, children of orphans and others, in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler. Sharjah needs to provide data on the citizens of the Emirate continuously.
The ‘Modernization 2019’ project is a continuation of the modernization project launched by the Department in 2017, which included 25 thousand citizen families to measure the change in the social, economic, demographic and health status of the Emirate’s citizens. Characteristics of society, family and individual.
The themes of the change will include the size of the population of the Emirate of Sharjah by age group, gender and administrative regions, number of households, average family size, social status (bachelorhood, widowhood, divorce, marriage, abandonment) and number of births and deaths.
The themes also include educational status by stage and highest educational attainment, as well as income, bank loans, individuals receiving financial assistance from social services of all kinds and other living conditions including housing and average number of households within a single dwelling in order to help plan future housing operations.
The project is being implemented in two phases, the first of which was started by the Department on 8 October by sending a text message to the telephone number of the head of the household containing the link of the registration form to choose the most appropriate way to update the data. By phone, visit the dwelling or fill in the data update form that will be sent to them. This phase will start on October 13 and will last until December 6.
The head of the Department of Statistics and Community Development said that the “Modernization Project 2019″ is in line with the objectives of the department and its directions to participate in the development of society through continuous follow-up of its changes and accommodate the needs of its members of all kinds of social, economic, cultural, health and security, through the provision of statistical data and information necessary to the bodies concerned with community development to help them Identify its priorities and prepare its plans and programs of work on sound scientific bases.
He explained that the Department is keen to provide figures and statistics to decision makers to follow the best international standards in obtaining and analyzing data through a cadre with scientific and practical skills in this area, calling on all project target groups to cooperate with researchers and facilitate their tasks and provide accurate information to reach outputs contribute to the improvement of community service .
The “ Modernization 2019 ” project includes residents of the Emirate of Sharjah who are UAE nationals who hold a UAE family visa or passport issued by another Emirate, who reside with a family headed by a non-citizen head of household and all non-UAE nationals living with a family. It is headed by the head of a citizen’s family and the citizens who reside in a collective family such as homes for the elderly, orphanages and others, as well as residents outside the Emirate of Sharjah, who hold a passport or a passport issued by the Emirate of Sharjah.
