Opening of the 13th Arab Steel Summit in Jordan

The 13th Arab Steel Summit, organized by the Arab Union of Iron and Steel, will be inaugurated in the Jordanian capital Amman today, under the title “The Arab Steel Industry after 2020”, and sponsorship by the National Iron and Steel Committee of the Council of Saudi Chambers. .
The Minister of Industry, Dr. Tarek Al-Hamouri, said that the steel summit is an important initiative to meet the challenges facing this growing industry.
He added that the industry faces many problems and is heavily influenced by political events and protectionist measures. He pointed out that the steel industry in the Arab world helps to employ about 15% of the total labor force, in addition to helping to raise the growth rate significantly.
For his part, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers Dr. Sami Al-Obaidi said that the Kingdom is betting on the iron industry in the process of national transformation to achieve the vision of 2030, which aims in turn to develop and diversify sources of non-oil income.
