Dubai Economic City: 13,825 new business facilities licensed in 9 months

 The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) issued 13,825 new business licenses in the first nine months of 2018, with 61.2% , And Industrial Licenses (1.1%), according to Business Map data, the Dubai Digital Information Platform. The total number of commercial registration and licensing transactions during the same period reached 204,319 thousand transactions, reflecting the ease of doing business and economic activities in Dubai, as well as continuing to attract Dubai to companies wishing to sustainably grow and compete in various economic sectors. The Department of Economic Development’s report showed that the top five nationalities with the largest share in registering the number of companies are India ranked first, followed by Pakistan in second place, then Britain, Egypt and France. Approximately 840 licenses were issued during the first nine months of this year. The issuance of each license took a record time of not more than five minutes, while the number of renewal and modification of licenses was 23,963 licenses and 1,350 certificates for those interested. About 80,168 transactions, 24,208 modification licenses, initial approvals reached 17,864, while trade name transactions amounted to 26,040 transactions. DEWA launched the automatic renewal service in 2016. The customer sends a text message to the number of licenses to be renewed to 6969. The transaction number is sent by text message to the customer in case of meeting the Dubai economic requirements. The customer can pay the fees in any of the Manual or electronic payment outlets, through the link available in the text message. In the first nine months of 2018, 34,410 commercial renewal transactions were automatically completed, an increase of 43% from the total number of renewals transactions of 80,168. According to the distribution of economic activities, the report of the business movement during the first nine months of this year showed the diversity of business activities in Dubai, which confirms that Dubai has become an attractive station for the various sectors vital to the sustainability and competitiveness of its business. “Construction and related activities” topped the list of economic activities, followed by “Consulting – Management and Information”, “Maintenance of buildings, guards and cleaning”, “Ready-made clothing”, “Cleaning services”, “Restaurants and cafes” , “Food trade”, “mechanical and engineering equipment trade” and “transport, shipping and storage”.
