His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince of Makkah Region, will launch the first edition of Makkah Economic Forum titled “From Vision to Achievement … Invest in Makkah” in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Makkah Region Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Forum, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Jeddah, and continues for two days.
The forum, which was attended by HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, will hold nine sessions with 60 leading speakers and local, regional and international experts who will participate in the meetings to come up with recommendations that will contribute to raising the level of private sector participation and attracting more foreign direct investments to raise domestic output. The forum aims at enhancing the contribution of small and medium enterprises in economic development and reviewing the opportunities and investment elements possessed by the Makkah Region, especially as the direction of the Kingdom aspires to continue the process of development and transformation into a pioneering investment force. The contribution of the private sector to the GDP from 40% to 65% in line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030.
The forum started with the formation of a committee headed by the emirate and the membership of the chambers of commerce in the holy capital of Jeddah and Taif, and the participation of a number of specialists to discuss ways to unify the economic and investment forums and conferences in the region to achieve the desired goals, On the basis of the recommendations made by His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, following his tour of the provinces. The most important of these were the holding of investment workshops between the public and private sectors in all governorates of the region, In order to serve the region in an integrated manner. This was followed by holding workshops and meetings under the chairmanship of His Highness the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee to create a vision for the forum to reflect the status of Makkah Region and the opportunities and advantages it enjoys.
