UAE transfers AED 1 billion in customs duties to GCC countries in 2018

The Federal Customs Authority announced that the total value of customs duties transferred by the UAE to the GCC countries in addition to the transfers of GCC countries to the local customs services amounted to about AED 1 billion in 2018 through the implementation of 168,726 transactions / The direct mechanism for customs duties between the GCC countries, which was launched at the end of October 2015.
The Authority pointed out that the value of customs duties that were transferred by the UAE to the Gulf States for goods and goods that entered these countries via the customs outlets in the country amounted to AED 866.4 million, representing 84% of the total amounts transferred during 2018 through the implementation of 134.3 While the value of customs duties transferred from the GCC countries to the local customs departments in the country amounted to AED 136.8 million as customs duties on goods and goods entered into the country from the Gulf ports through the implementation of 34.4 thousand transactions representing 14% of the total amounts transferred through the system During the year.
Ali Saeed Al Niyadi, Customs Commissioner, said that the system of direct automatic transfer of customs duties represents the latest technical tools that contribute to the enhancement of GCC customs cooperation by reducing the time of tariff transfers from one year under the previous clearing system to 30 days only under the transfer system Which was implemented on the initiative of the UAE to develop the system of customs clearance between the GCC States.
He pointed out that the increase in the volume of customs transfers through the system by the UAE to the GCC countries during the year reflects the pivotal role of the UAE in implementing the system, as the country is the first gateway to the GCC countries and a regional trade center for the Middle East And neighboring areas.
He added that Saudi Arabia accounted for the largest share of total customs duties transferred by the UAE to the Gulf States during 2018, with a share of the total transferred fees of AED 456.1 million, equivalent to 52.6%, followed by Oman with a value of 241.4 million dirhams While Kuwait came third with a share of AED 118.1 million, representing 13.6%. Bahrain’s share of total transfers was AED 48.3 million, or 5.6%.
