The UAE hosted today the 36th meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction in the presence of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction, HE Victor Kessop, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program, Ambassador Kamal Hassan Ali, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of Economic Affairs Sector in the Arab League and a number of organizations. The Arab, Regional and International Affairs Forum was held in conjunction with the third round of the Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development on Monday and Tuesday 7-8 October.
The ministerial session was inaugurated with the assumption of the presidency of the Council for the next session 2019-2020 from the Kingdom of Bahrain. Discussions also highlighted the main challenges facing the housing and urban development sector in the Arab region, as well as a mechanism to catalyze efforts towards joint cooperation among Arab countries to promote that sector. The Ministers discussed a number of topics related to the housing sector, most notably the Arab Housing Conference, the celebration of the Arab Housing Day, the Award of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction and the latest developments on the Council’s website and the design of the database and information to activate the objectives of the Council as well as cooperation mechanisms with the United Nations Human Settlements Program and the Arab Ministerial Forum Arab cooperation with regional groupings and foreign countries in the field of housing and reconstruction and follow-up implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the implementation plan of the Arab Strategy for Housing and Development Urban Numeih as well as cooperation with the Arab, regional and international organizations and the relevant Arab unions as well as the exchange of information among Arab countries about the leader in the field of housing and other vital topics that serve the housing sector project topics.
His Excellency Eng. In the Third Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development, which will discuss topics that enrich Arab strategies in the field of housing and urban development, which contributes to the development of medium and long-term plans.
