The UAE participates in a meeting of senior officials of the ministries of economy in the Arab countries

The UAE participated in the “103” session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States at the senior level of the ministries of economy to prepare for the ministerial session of the Council scheduled for Thursday.

Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the meeting chaired by Emad Bin Taleb Al Ajmi, Director of Arab and International Organizations at the Supreme Council of Planning, Sultanate of Oman, affirmed that the implementation of the important decisions issued by the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit Fourth, the Lebanese Republic would achieve a better life for the Arab people and push forward the Arab efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Plan 2030, stressing that this requires great effort and support from the Council as the supervisor of all mechanisms Joint Arab economic and social development work, and highlights including the efforts of the Arab League system in coordination with its Member States to achieve the desired development.
Cooperation with civil society organizations, the private sector, United Nations specialized agencies and regional and international partners was also needed, noting that the Secretariat of the Arab League had already begun to take a number of actions to implement the outcome of this important Summit.
Ambassador Abu Ghazaleh explained that the topics on the agenda of the “103” session of the Economic and Social Council constitute an update to these efforts and in the context of advancing the economic and social development process in the Arab countries, pointing out that the preparation of the economic and social file of the Council of the League of Arab States at its 30th session In Tunisia during the month of March, is one of the main topics before the Council today through the ministerial councils and specialized organizations of the proposals and perceptions in this regard, and also follow-up to the resolutions of the Arab-African summit, noting that the Arab International cooperation comes in the same context as complementary items to enhance Arab cooperation with all partners.
Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that it is necessary at the Arab-Arab level to continue the efforts of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, follow up the developments of the Arab Customs Union, follow up the implementation of the sustainable Arab agricultural development strategy and the executive plan of the Arab Emergency Food Security Program. As one of the important Arab initiatives in this field.
She stressed that all these issues, as formulated by the Fourth Development Summit, are important axes that require intensive efforts in close cooperation with all the forces of society. Arab people deserve to be the goal and means of development of decent living and within the framework of social justice.
