Austria welcomes the entry into force of the “EU-Japan Economic Partnership”

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz welcomed the entry into force of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement earlier this month, and Kurtz predicted that the agreement would provide new opportunities for Austrian companies in Japan. . Pointing out that Japan is the third largest market to receive exports of Austria, which amounted to about 1.4 billion euros in 2017.
In his statement today, Counselor Kurtz valued bilateral relations with Japan and highlighted the benefits of the Euro-Japan Partnership Agreement, which “provides Austrian companies with great opportunities and allows the use of Japanese companies in the fields of innovation and digital technology.” Counselor Kurtz cited figures showing that 1,000 companies Austrian exports of its products to Japan, and revealed an increase in the number of Japanese tourists to about 250 thousand tourists annually.
A few days after the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement enters into force, Counselor Kurtz is scheduled to visit Japan next Wednesday, accompanied by a high-level delegation of relevant ministers, businessmen, economy and trade. Counselor Kurtz will meet his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe And the Governor of Hiroshima City, to discuss opportunities to enhance trade and economic cooperation with Japan and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Austria and Japan.
