The state reviews its achievements in front of “cop27” and prepares to host “cop28”

During its participation in the Conference of the Parties (COP27), which begins tomorrow in Sharm El-Sheikh, the UAE will review its achievements in climate action and its track record in the transition in the energy sector, intensifying diplomatic and multilateral efforts, promoting the inclusion of all in climate action, and laying the appropriate ground for hosting “COP28” in the UAE. Next year.

As it works, through its close partnership with Egypt, to link the results and outputs between the “COP27” and “COP28” conferences, to promote and support climate action, increase global awareness of the UAE’s vision, and stimulate the UAE’s pioneering path towards sustainability and climate action.

The UAE has a rich record of achievements in various fields, especially climate action, as it sees climate action as an opportunity to contribute to finding practical solutions to a global problem that affects us all, in conjunction with diversifying our economy and creating knowledge, skills and jobs for young people.

The UAE is one of the largest donors of humanitarian aid in the world, providing direct relief in cases of climate disasters and conflicts whose repercussions are severely exacerbated by climate change. It is also the first country in the region to sign and ratify the 2015 Paris Agreement, and the first in the region to announce a strategic initiative to achieve Climate neutrality by 2050.

The ultimate goal of the United Nations conventions on climate change is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that prevents dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system within a time frame that allows ecosystems to adapt naturally and enable sustainable development. The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which takes place annually, is the largest annual conference of the United Nations.
