The Saudi Water Distribution Sector has announced the operation of 18 water and environmental projects during the first quarter of 2018 in different regions of the Kingdom at a cost exceeding SR 487 million according to its plans based on the National Transition Program 2020 and the vision of the Kingdom 2030 to improve the services provided to citizens. The Sector indicated that the projects that were operated were distributed according to its new structure. In the central sector, one project was implemented, the northern sector and the north west five projects, the southern sector nine projects, and three projects in the eastern sector.
He pointed out that the water distribution sector in the Kingdom that the projects that have been launched aims to deliver drinking water to customers and meet their needs by increasing the capacity of strategic storage in cities, and reduce the percentage of losses in water networks, in addition to providing sanitation services to cope with urban growth, Including the extension of main and sub-lines and networks for water and sanitation services, in addition to the implementation of domestic water and sanitation connections, the implementation of strategic reservoirs, the implementation of purification plants and the construction of sewage treatment plants.
The sector stressed that the strategy of implementing its projects seeks to develop it to be in line with the best international standards through a comprehensive national plan for water and sanitation that provides the required plans, solutions and projects aimed at comprehensive coverage of services.
The sector said that the completed projects will have a positive impact on raising the level of service provided to customers. He stressed that it will achieve the vision of the wise leadership of the access of water networks and sanitation services to all members of this country giving citizens and residents, as well as raising the efficiency of pumping water to continue around the clock, The size of water losses to reach the target, in addition to the advancement of the water sector to keep pace with the ambitious plans of the Kingdom within the national transformation initiatives 2020.
