Two students from “Khalifa University of Science and Technology” in Abu Dhabi – Department of Medical Equipment Engineering, created an electronic program that uses a new type of artificial intelligence, with the aim of detecting toxins and side effects in therapeutic and health drugs in a period of time not exceeding ten seconds, and it works with 99% accuracy.
The students, Majid Al-Barakani and Muhammad Al-Dhahouri explained that adverse drug reactions (ADRs), undesirable symptoms of drugs that exceed the intended therapeutic effects of drugs, and contribute to 20% of clinical trial failures, as well as a large number of severe adverse drug reactions are reported each year.
