Abu Dhabi, January 1 / Brokerage firms in the Dubai Financial Market added 50,718 new accounts for investors during the past year 2022, amid great momentum in the market since the announcement of the listing of 10 government and semi-governmental companies, including “Dewa”, “Tecom” and “Union Coop”. And “Salik”, “Empower” and “Taleem”, which contributed to enhancing the attractiveness of the market and attracting new segments of investors.
According to the monitoring of the Emirates News Agency, WAM, based on Dubai Financial Market data, the number of new accounts in the Dubai Financial Market recorded a significant growth of more than 321.5% during the year 2022, compared to 12 thousand and 31 new accounts in the year 2021.
The companies added 2145 new accounts last December, 4226 accounts in November, 5097 accounts in October, 16210 accounts in September, 2484 new accounts in August, 2348 accounts in July, 2850 accounts in June, 2468 accounts in May, 4258 accounts in April, and 4401 accounts. account in March, 3231 account in February, and 995 account in January.
Emirates NBD Securities acquired the largest share of new investor accounts during the past year with 15.02 thousand accounts, then “BHM Capital Financial Services” with 6327 accounts, then “Al-Mashreq Securities” with 5338 accounts, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Securities with 6327 accounts. 4,743 accounts, “International Securities” 4,016 accounts, and Abu Dhabi Commercial Securities 2,365 accounts, followed by “EFG-Hermes – UAE” 1,833 accounts.
Brokerage firms in the Dubai Financial Market, which currently number 24, executed more than 2.57 million transactions during the year 2022, a growth of 55.2%, compared to about 1.65 million transactions in 2021.
Deals were executed on 71.6 billion shares, with a value of about 163.1 billion dirhams, in 2022, an increase of 25.2% compared to 137.8 billion dirhams executed in 2021.
