The Hatta region constitutes an important axis as it is a major destination of attractions in Dubai, with its natural and heritage ingredients, and the authentic customs and traditions it maintains for the people of the Emirates in general.

And in Hatta, honey production is considered one of its oldest industries, as it is famous for producing the highest quality.

This natural tourist destination covers an area of 16,000 square meters and contains 300 out of 4,000 beehives owned by the Hatta Honey Company throughout the UAE. It is home to hundreds of wild perennial trees such as Samar, Ghaf and Sidr trees.
During a tour inside the honey bee garden, Mostafa Mohamed, the bee garden productivity officer in Hatta, said that honey is a viscous liquid when it is ripe, then it gradually crystallizes until it solidifies. The form of crystals that give the honey a granular shape, and the honey turns sour at the same time, which solidifies and forms on its surface a thin, white, granular membrane that gradually increases in thickness. Mostafa enumerated in his statements the types of bees, how to raise and care for them, down to the process of producing honey with high nutritional value, including Samar, Sidr, Ghaf, mangrove (Crim) and wild flower honey, and the development of new methods in the production of queen bees locally instead of importing them, and the discovery of production lines And packaging that is based on the latest innovative technology.
The Hatta Honey Garden produces between 20 and 25 tons per season, which lasts about two months. The bee garden is located in the middle of a natural area, producing approximately 5,000 queens per year.. The queens were initially from Italy and then gradually developed into a hybrid between The Arab and the European “Carlelonian bees from the Alps” need more time due to the difference between cold and hot environments.

In turn, Abdul Aleem Al-Abqi, the guide of the introductory tours inside the bee garden, explained that the honey productivity in Hatta differs according to the types of trees, and the UAE is one of the distinguished countries from the European countries, as the trees in the country allow for a more dense and quality honey production than others, and the success of the process of producing queen bees locally An important step that contributes to advancing and developing the honey production sector in Hatta, as this guarantees the sustainability of this industry, and the ability to develop it in accordance with the environmental conditions in the country, and coexistence with the climatic nature.
He noted the existence of hybrid types of local bees and their Omani, Saudi and Egyptian counterparts, in order to reach hybrid generations that can adapt to the difficult environment and conditions, pointing out that they produce the best types of wild honey that are present in fertile days among pastures, especially from trees (Samr, Sidr and Ghaf) in addition to Crimeans and wildflowers.

He stressed the keenness on the sustainability of bees by providing the necessary environment to maintain the health of bees, and “Abu Tuwaiqa” bees are among the finest types of local honey that are found in mountain ranges and farms.
Regarding the importance of Emirati honey, which is distinguished by its valuable nutritional and marketing properties, he pointed to the importance of Emirati honey, especially the local Samar honey, which is rich in nutrients beneficial to the body such as zinc, potassium, and magnesium, and has a strong effect in getting rid of respiratory problems, fighting emerging viruses and maintaining the integrity of organs.
