France expects a shortage of electricity supplies during the winter

Paris – Reuters

The head of the Energy Regulatory Authority (RTE) in France, Javier Piaczak, said, on Thursday, that the lack of electricity supplies may lead to power outages for a few days this winter, at a time when the government has notified local authorities of ways to manage the situation, in the event of any occurrence. Possible outage.

“The situation is dangerous, but we should not think that power outages are inevitable,” Piaczak told France Info radio.

In his meeting, Piaczak referred to the authority’s latest predictions regarding the electricity supply, which highlighted the risks of a shortage of such supplies in January.

He said, “Today we have 35 gigawatts of nuclear energy available until the first of December, and the goal is to reach 40 and 41 (gigawatts) by the first of January, and to 43 (gigawatts) by the end of the month, compared to a total capacity of 61.”

Piaczak said FANR based its forecasts on the nuclear maintenance schedule prepared by Electricity de France, with some delays expected.
