The “Emirates Clean” convoy lands in the Emirate of Fujairah. 300 volunteers manage to collect 500 kg of waste

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development, and with the support of the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation, the convoy of the 21st session of the “Emirates is Clean” campaign of the Emirates Environmental Working Group, landed in the Emirate of Fujairah on December 7, after it succeeded in collecting 1,350 kg of waste and covering an area of 3 square kilometers with the participation of 804 volunteers at the first convoy station in the Emirate of Ajman.

300 volunteers equipped with cotton gloves, biodegradable garbage bags, cotton T-shirts and hats were able to collect 500 kg of waste and cover two square kilometers from the campaign site in the Masafi area, where the group team separated the recyclable materials such as plastic, glass and aluminum cans from the total quantity and sent them to local recycling plants.

A second site was also opened for the students of our secondary school in Al Warqa in Dubai, where more than 1,200 students collected 1,570 kg of waste covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers, bringing the total waste collected on the second day to 2,070 kg.

Habiba Al Marashi, founding member and chairwoman of the group, said in her opening speech: “The Emirates Clean Campaign, which we have been organizing for more than 20 years, has played an important role in raising awareness of environmental issues and changing the behavior of people in all sectors, including the private, government, academic, hospitality, families and individuals of all ages.” , regardless of gender, race, nationality, religion, social status and educational background, as the group has taken its well-known slogan “Together for a better environment” since 1991 to unite people for the cause of the environment.

Al-Marashi expressed her deep gratitude to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for its sponsorship and strong support for this campaign, with the active participation of its employees.

She also thanked the Ministry of Community Development for joining this national platform this year and the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation for its active partnership in this campaign over the years.
