The value of cheques traded during the first quarter of 2019 amounted to 307.32 bn Dirhams

The number of cheques processed through the Emirates cheque Clearing System reached 6.641 million during the first quarter of 2019, amounting to about 307.32 billion dirhams.
According to statistics released today by the Central Bank of UAE, the value of cheques carried out during the first quarter of this year constitute 23.5% of the total value of cheques traded throughout the year 2018 worth 1.3 trillion dirhams.
The number of cheques traded during the month of March this year amounted to 2.28 million cheques valued at 105.9 billion dirhams compared with 118.5 billion dirhams in the same month of 2018.
The value of cheques traded during the month of January 2019 amounted to 105.4 billion dirhams, while in February of the same year about 96 billion dirhams, according to the Central Bank of Statistics.
On the other hand, the value of cash withdrawals from the Central Bank during the first quarter of this year amounted to 52.8 billion dirhams, while the value of deposits during the same period about 50.3 billion dirhams.
The Central Bank’s statistics show that January was the most active in terms of value of deposits, which amounted to about 18 billion dirhams followed by the month of March 17.75 billion dirhams and about 14.6 billion dirhams.
March was the most active in terms of value of withdrawals amounting to 18.55 billion dirhams, while in January it reached 17.85 billion dirhams and about 16.4 billion dirhams in February.
