Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language launches the “Scan and Learn Arabic” application

The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Department of Community Development and the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, launched its latest initiative, represented by the “Scan and Learn Arabic” application, which provides its users with the ability to scan things and learn their meanings in the Arabic language, which enhances the status of And the importance of the Arabic language for all segments of society.

The initiative translates the goals of the center in supporting the teaching of the Arabic language, and enhancing its presence, through easy and innovative ways, where users of smart phones and tablets can access and download the available application for free via Apple and Android platforms and scan objects / phrases / pictures located in many vital facilities on the Corniche. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi, through its built-in optical reader, enables visitors and residents of the emirate from various segments of society to learn the Arabic language in smooth ways that enhance the presence of the language of Dhad in their daily lives.

About the initiative, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, said: “We are keen to keep the Arabic language, the original component of our Arab and Emirati culture, present in the details of the lives of all members of society. Dhad, improving the skills of its use, and consolidating its foundations for everyone to make it a daily language that doubles the vocabulary of its speakers, and opens the door for non-native speakers to learn about its treasures and aesthetics.This initiative, in which the center cooperates with the most important vital sectors in the emirate, reflects the interest of various agencies and institutions in this field. Abu Dhabi in the Arabic language, its value and presence, as the language of creativity and civilized and human communication with all global societies.

For his part, His Excellency Eng. Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Department of Community Development, said: “In the department, we realize the importance of such initiatives in promoting national identity through the Arabic language, as it is one of the important foundations in our Arab and Emirati culture, and learning Arabic will also contribute to strengthening societal cohesion among all spectrums. Research has indicated that spreading and facilitating the teaching of the official language in any country contributes to improving communication and consolidating cohesion between the various communities. It reveals a lot of educational options that multiply their knowledge about it.”

He added that this initiative will contribute to increasing the use of the vocabulary of the Arabic language and making it widely available, calling for attention to the Arabic language, upgrading it, and empowering it among generations, as it is the first basis for achieving sustainable development in societies, and a means to increase its cohesion and advancement.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al Sahi, Undersecretary of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, pointed out the need for joint action between all concerned authorities to provide all the tools and means that enhance the use of the Arabic language in all areas of daily life, due to its richness in details and vocabulary, in addition to the ancient heritage. Which the Arabic language contributed to building human civilizations over the centuries.

He added: “Our mother tongue is one of the most important means of communication that formed the cornerstone of the harmony of our societies and formed a channel throughout history for literary, scientific and social dialogue between peoples. Through this cooperation, the Department of Municipalities and Transport will work to identify vital sites in the emirate during all stages of the initiative.” And to ensure the application of the necessary technology to activate the role of the Arabic language within all our operations and these sites in an innovative way, to be a means that contributes to community service and increase cohesion between different nationalities.”
