DP World supplies Berbera port with the first of three new mobile cranes

Dubai Ports World (DP World) has announced the supply of three mobile cranes worth US $ 12 million (44 million dirhams) as part of its plan to turn the port into a hub in the Horn of Africa.
The upgrade of the port’s vital facilities and its modern cranes is expected to increase the efficiency of the port and enhance the efficiency of its operations, as well as to ensure the performance and continuity of the port during the monsoon period.
This step is part of the company’s strategy to utilize its global expertise and knowledge in the development of transport infrastructure and logistics in the Republic of Somaliland through the development of the port and its capacity building. Since 2017, it has supplied more than 25 vehicles and container handling equipment of the latest models.
Suhail Al Banna, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, DP World, Middle East and Africa, said that supplying Berbera Port with the new equipment to be operated soon is an important strategic step that will enhance the performance of the facility and enable it to serve more ships. Country and region.
This year, DP World launched the ZODIC Operating Station, Oracle Financial System and Maximo Asset Management System to provide faster and better service to all its customers.
As part of DP World’s keenness to transfer expertise and disseminate knowledge, the company has sent DP World employees from Berbera to receive the necessary training to operate the new cranes in Dubai, UAE, as part of a comprehensive program to develop local skills.
It is worth mentioning that in 2018 more than two thousand and 700 workers were trained and dealing with the company from the Republic of Somaliland.
