The Minister of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, praised the pioneering role played by the United Arab Emirates in digital transformation and innovation.
This came during a visit by the German official to the headquarters of the regional company “SAB” for the Middle East and North Africa in Dubai.
SAP, one of more than 900 German companies operating in the UAE, is helping to boost bilateral trade to 15.4 billion euros, according to the German Information Center of the German Foreign Ministry.
Officials from the German government delegation and SAP said that the culture of digital transformation and innovation is a common factor between the UAE and Germany. The visit underscored the company’s commitment to seeking to share global best practices in digital transformation in order to contribute to the economic growth of the UAE, Sectors that are witnessing rapid digitization such as aviation, oil and gas, retail, electricity and water services.
During the visit and in the presence of Minister Schutz, one of SAB’s most innovative customers was honored in the region as the flagship brand of Carrefour of Majid Al Futtaim Retail was awarded the SAB International Award for Best Global Transformation Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa for the year. ” The award was received by Hani Wes, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Retail, and Accenture, SAB’s global strategic partner, was honored for implementing an integrated SABB platform for customers in 15 countries.
SAB is implementing a five-year, $ 200 million investment plan in the UAE, the first commercial application provider to launch a public data center hosting customers in the UAE.
