Delegation of the Free Zones Organization meets the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Working Group in Paris

A delegation from the World Organization for Free Zones (FOZ) met under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohamed Zerouni, President of the World Organization of Free Zones, and the heads of 20 Free Zones from around the world joined the OECD Task Force on Combating Illicit Trade to consult on the Code of Conduct for Free Trade Zones Free of illegal activities while maintaining their competitiveness within the global value chain.
The delegation of the World Organization of Free Zones reviewed its criteria for the management of free zones as a model consistent with the WCO standards framework for securing and facilitating international trade and the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
For its part, the OECD Working Group on Combating Illegal Trade presented at the meeting in Paris the code of conduct for free trade zones free of criminal activities to the delegation of the World Organization of Free Zones. The two sides agreed on ways to combine the two models into a code of conduct Which aims to ensure the safety and security of free zones.
FTAs offer tax advantages and other regulatory exemptions to attract foreign direct investment into their host economies and promote trade. About 2,200 free trade zones around the world – providing nearly 70 million jobs – play a pivotal role in achieving development and economic prosperity for many countries around the world. These regions are effectively involved in international supply chains and global value chains.
Dr. Mohamed Al Zarouni said that the World Organization for Free Zones is playing an active role in helping to design the rules of transparency and control that are integrated seamlessly into the current practices of companies in all free zones as a global entity committed to transforming free zones into a platform for development, economic prosperity and social and economic sustainability. .
