Abu Dhabi consumer prices drop 1.0% in September

The Statistics Center – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) confirmed that the consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 0.9% during the period January-September 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, where the index reached 110.9% for the period January-September of 2019, while it was 111.9% for the same period From 2018.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 1.8% in September 2019 compared to September 2018, reaching 109.7% in September 2019 compared to 111.6% in September 2018.
On the other hand, the report showed that the consumer price index decreased by 1.0% during the month of September 2019 compared to the index for the month of August 2019, where the index reached 109.7% during the month of September 2019, while it was 110.8% in the month of August 2019.
The Center explained that the 12 main expenditure groups are classified according to the International Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels accounted for 132.2% of the overall decline in January-September 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, with prices falling by 3.6%. The Transport Group accounted for 105.9% of the overall decline in January-September 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, where the prices of this group decreased by 6.1%.
The Food & Beverage Group contributed 29.4% of the overall decline in January-September 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, where the prices of this group decreased by 2.2%.
On the other hand, the recreation and culture group “ contributed to reduce the rate of decline during the period January-September 2019 compared to the same period of 2018 by 108.3%, where the prices of this group increased by 20.5%.
The Center also pointed out that consumer prices for households in the “lower” welfare segment decreased by 1.3%, consumer prices for households in the “medium” welfare segment decreased by 1.1% and that consumer prices for households in the “upper welfare segment” decreased by 0.5% during the period from January On the other hand, the decline in consumer prices during the period January-September 2019 compared to the same period in 2018 affected the consumer prices of national and non-national families, which led to a decrease of 0.9% The share of collective households decreased by 1.4%.
