1.1% decline in consumer prices in Abu Dhabi during July 2019

Abu Dhabi’s consumer price index (CPI) fell by 1.1% in July 2019 compared to the June record of 110.4% in July, compared to 111.6% in June 2019, according to data released today by Statistics Center Abu Dhabi.
The consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 1.4% in July 2019 compared to the same month in 2018, where the index reached 110.4% in July, compared to 112.0% in the same month of last year, according to the results of calculating the Consumer Price Index for the month of July 2019 2014.
The rate of decline in consumer prices reached 0.7% during the period from January to July of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, where the index reached 111.1% for the period from January to July this year, while it was 111.9% for the same period of 2018.
The decline in consumer prices during the period January to July 2019 compared to the same period last year affected the decline in consumer prices for households in the lower welfare segment by 1.1% and decreased by 0.9% for the medium welfare segment and by 0.4% for the upper welfare segment.
Data released by the Statistics Center Abu Dhabi showed that consumer prices for nationals and non-nationals declined by 0.7%, while the share of households decreased by 1.2%.
The Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels Group contributed 166.6% of the overall decline in the January-July 2019 period compared to the same period last year, where the prices of this group decreased by 3.6%.
The Transport Group contributed 131.0% of the total decline in the period from January to July of this year compared to the same period in 2018, where the prices of this group decreased by 6.0%.
The Food and Beverage Group contributed 34.3% of the overall decline, with prices falling by 2.0%, while the Promotion and Culture Group contributed to reducing the rate of decline during the period from January to July 2019 compared to the same period in 2018 and the prices of this group increased by 18.0%.
