116 million Revenues of Jordanian Aqaba Customs in the first quarter of this year

Revenues of the Customs Directorate of Aqaba for the end of the first quarter of this year 116 million dinars.
The director of the center, Colonel Salem Al-Shallal said that the number of customs data organized by the Department in the first quarter of this year amounted to 38,948 statements compared to 38710 for the same period of 2018.
He pointed out that the number of cases of irregularities and smuggling in the Directorate amounted to 1994 issue with a total fines amounted to 1.8 million dinars lower than the cases dealt with in the first quarter of 2018, which was then 2766 cases.
These revenues have been achieved thanks to the improvement and increase of efficiency of customs procedures and the development of the mechanism of action by the General Customs and the simplification of procedures which led to a marked improvement in the flow of goods through the port of Aqaba, which is the most important port in the volume of goods passing to the Jordanian market and some neighboring countries.
He pointed out that the Directorate is seeking during the current year to implement several development projects that will contribute to achieving more efficiency in the performance of customs work, noting that the re-engineering of customs procedures within the Special Economic Zone where the data entry, storage and manufacturing in the region was linked with customs evidence, Reducing the number of data, and reducing the cost, effort and time of dealing with the Department in the region.
He pointed out that the last period witnessed the launch of the national window project in transit and re-export and the customs of passenger customs.
The national window project is the completion of the customs procedures from the moment the goods come out of their home country through a computerized system connected with all the departments concerned with the completion of the customs data.
He pointed out that the most important challenges facing the work of the Directorate is to combat smuggling and tax evasion inside and outside the region of Al Aqah special economic, and find a balance between the facilities provided and control procedures, and harmonization between the law and the instructions of the Aqaba Economic Zone in particular and the law and instructions of customs.
He stressed the importance of cooperation with the security services in the region in a way that reflects the bright image of the Customs Department in providing distinctive customs services that meet the requirements of comprehensive development and keep abreast of developments at the national and international levels.
