The local stock markets attracted about 197,767 new investors during the year 2022, in an indication of their investment attractiveness and the keenness of international investors to enhance their presence in UAE stocks to take advantage of the strong growth of the national economy, which establishes the position of financial markets as one of the most important financial and business markets in the world.

And official data from the Dubai and Abu Dhabi markets showed a steady increase in the number of new investors in the two markets over the past year, by about 652%, compared to about 26,327 new investors during 2021.

The large jump in the number of new investors coincides with the success of the financial markets in supporting economic development efforts as an effective platform for raising funds through public offerings and listings of leading companies from the government and private sectors, as it witnessed 11 initial offerings that raised 51.2 billion dirhams after it attracted subscription requests of about 1.454. One trillion dirhams, in a step that contributed to increasing the depth of the markets, enhancing their investment attractiveness, and attracting a new segment of investors.

The local markets will continue to attract more investors during the current year 2023 while providing attractive opportunities and wider investment options for investors to participate in the strong growth process of the national economy, in addition to their readiness to attract new proposals to pave the way for companies to start their journey in the UAE markets, which is one of the most important financial markets. at the regional and global levels.

Abu Dhabi market

The Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange attracted about 30,435 new investors during the past year 2022, an increase of 60.3% compared to about 18,985 new investors during 2021.

Institutional investment (buying and selling) in the Abu Dhabi market increased by 19.2% to 739 billion dirhams in 2022, compared to about 620 billion dirhams in 2021, while net foreign investment increased by 54.1% from 15.3 billion dirhams in 2021 to 23.6 billion dirhams in 2022.

The value of trading in the Abu Dhabi market jumped during the past year by 21.9%, to rise from 369 billion dirhams in 2021, to 450 billion dirhams in 2022, and the market value of listed securities increased to 2.624 trillion dirhams.

Dubai market

The Dubai Financial Market attracted about 167 thousand and 332 new investors during the past year, so that the number of investors doubled 23 times compared to the year 2021, while the total number of investors registered in the market increased to more than one million investors from 212 nationalities.

Foreign investors maintained their large presence in the Dubai Financial Market, with their acquisition of 48.7% of the trading value, with a purchase proceeds of 5 billion dirhams, while their share of the market value amounted to about 19% at the end of the year.

The total value of trading in the Dubai market increased during the past year to 90 billion dirhams, an increase of 24.5% compared to 2021, and the total market value of listed securities increased by 41.4% to 582 billion dirhams.
