His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received today, Monday morning, a delegation from the British University of Exeter, at the residence of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi in the University City.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the distinguished relations and constant communication between the University of Exeter and the Emirate of Sharjah, and the fruitful cooperation in various scientific, educational, technological and cultural fields, which contributes to providing the best opportunities for the desired scientific exchange between international academic institutions.
The meeting dealt with a number of issues related to education and the development of all its pillars with regard to plans, curricula, students and teachers, as well as scientific research, which represents an advanced development of the scientific institution’s experience, by benefiting from the levels and efforts of its members of scientists and academics and contributing to the development of society in all fields.
The meeting discussed areas and opportunities for cooperation in developing education, improving teaching methods, and training teachers to ensure the best educational outcomes that contribute to the development of students’ levels, and those in charge of the educational process that Sharjah is working to improve according to the latest international practices in the educational field, as part of the Emirate’s strategy to support education and develop pillars of the educational process.
For its part, the University of Exeter delegation praised the support and interest of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, in science and knowledge, and His Highness’s keenness to spread education and raise the standards of the various and specialized universities and academies that the Emirate of Sharjah includes, and enjoys full patronage from His Highness, which made Sharjah a prestigious scientific beacon.
At the end of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, accompanied by the delegation, toured the departments and halls of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi’s house, where the delegation learned about the manuscripts, maps and old photographs that reflect the history of the emirate during the different periods and decades. His Highness and the delegation also watched part of a documentary film about Sharjah Airport. The old, in addition to reviewing the important historical books and references contained in the foreign and Arab libraries, as well as the rare geographical and historical holdings.
The meeting and the tour were attended by: Muhammad Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, Ali Ibrahim Al Marri, Head of the House of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, Dr. Muhadithah Al Hashemi, Chairman of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and from the University of Exeter, Dr. Lisa Roberts, President and Executive Director of the University, and Dr. Richard Follett, Deputy The president of the university for global participation, and a number of vice presidents and deans from the colleges at the university.
