Media In / Amman June 13,

The financial offers submitted by the companies eligible for the project of generating electricity using wind power with 50 megawatts in the third round of direct offers of six companies showed that the lowest prices reached 18.33 fils / kWh, which is a distinguished price in the region and the world.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Eng. Hala Zwati said in a press statement on Thursday that the financial offers of the companies that were opened in the presence of representatives of companies were characterized by a significant drop in prices at the lowest prices (18.33 fils / KWS) (37 fils / kWh), which is about 47% lower than the current price of selling electricity produced by direct wind power projects (70 fils / kWh).

The minister stressed that the prices reflect Jordan’s success in attracting investors in the field of renewable energy in general and wind energy in particular as a result of advanced legislation and wise policies in the field of renewable energy. The new wind project will increase the contribution of wind energy in the total energy mix to 667 MW of total renewable energy Which currently produces 11 percent of the electricity generated in the Kingdom, including projects to reduce consumption through net measurement and energy transit.

Renewable energy in Jordan will reach 20 percent by 2020, including wind projects in the third round.
Zwati described the third round of direct offers for electricity generation as successful for the low prices provided by qualified companies, indicating that solar projects attracted prices of the lowest 17,646,3 fils / kWh, a record region and world and the lowest price on the wind.

The appointed consultant and the competent technical committees will audit these prices and analyze the financial offers to ensure that they meet the required conditions.

The Cabinet decided to exclude the third stage of the direct offers of renewable energy projects from the decision to stop the issuance of tenders or proposals directly or to authorize any project to generate electricity from any source, whether renewable or traditional “until completion of studies that are being prepared by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
