The government sector accounted for the majority of working citizens at 86.5% and 76.5% in 2005 and 2018 respectively, followed by the common sector with 7.5% and 15% in the same two years respectively, while the private sector held 6.9%. Working Emirati women outperformed men in university education, with 48.6% of the female nationals employed in the first university degree in 2005 and 45.6% in 2018, compared to 17.7% and 28.9% of men in the same two years.
