AED 374.33 billion foreign currency balance in September

The UAE Central Bank’s foreign currency balance increased to AED 374.33 billion in September of this year, an increase of approximately AED 47 billion and a growth of 14.3% compared to AED 327.3 billion in the same month of 2018.
The value of bank balances and deposits with banks abroad rose from AED 255.06 billion in September last year to AED 350.96 billion in September 2019, according to statistics released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The balance of foreign assets does not include the bank’s reserve bracket and the IMF’s special drawing rights, according to the central bank’s criteria.
On the other hand, on the aggregate level of cash of the banking system in general, liquidity in its comprehensive concept (N3) increased by nearly 48 billion dirhams during the month of September, increasing its cumulative balance to 1.68 trillion dirhams compared to 1.632 trillion dirhams in August.
Government deposits rose to 318.6 billion dirhams in September, while cash bank deposits stood at 435.3 billion dirhams and quasi-cash deposits at 849.4 billion dirhams.
Cash issued increased from 90.2 billion dirhams in August this year to 90.8 billion dirhams at the end of September of the same year, while the balance of cash in circulation with the public (outside banks) increased from 75.4 billion dirhams to 76.6 billion dirhams during the same monitoring period, according to Central Bank statistics. .
As for the development of the monetary base, it amounted to AED 392.8 billion in September of this year, compared to AED 386.3 billion at the end of August, of which AED 153.8 billion for certificates of deposit, AED 126.2 billion for banks’ reserve and AED 90.8 billion for cash. The current account balance of banks at the Central Bank stood at AED 22 billion
