4.9% CAGR for retail sales in the UAE until 2021

 Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has announced the establishment of the Retail Sector Working Group to unify the voices of companies working in this vital field in order to serve their interests and professional activities, bringing the number of business groups under the umbrella of the Chamber to 29.

Business groups play an important role in promoting Dubai’s economic growth. It is a key component of the business community and contributes to driving the emirate’s business and investment by investing in the capabilities, capabilities and expertise to enhance the competitive edge of Dubai’s business community.

“The establishment of the new group is an important step towards enhancing the competitiveness of the retail sector,” said Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), in a press release. “The group will contribute to unify the voices of companies operating in this important sector. The room helps to serve this sector in an innovative way.
Al Ghurair noted that the Chamber recognizes the importance of the retail sector in stimulating the competitiveness of the business community. The Business Monitor International report for the first quarter of 2018 predicts consumer spending growth in the UAE to reach 4.1% in 2018. Of the country at an annual rate of 5.7% during the period 2017-2021, bringing the number of tourists to the state to 24.3 million tourists in 2021.

“The retail market in the UAE is also expected to exceed AED 261 billion in 2021 with a compound annual growth rate of 4.9 per cent as Euromonitor expects, and we are preparing for this stage of growth in this sector by establishing a group,” said Al Ghurair. This work will coordinate the efforts of its members to contribute to the growth of the sector and play its role in the process of sustainable development. “
