Abu Dhabi, June 13 / The total capital and reserves of banks operating in the country increased on an annual basis by about 35.2 billion dirhams, or 8.9%, to reach 430.7 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of this year, compared to about 395.5 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of 2022. .

And the UAE Central Bank stated in its monthly report that the capital and reserves of banks increased on a quarterly basis by about 0.5%, or the equivalent of 2.1 billion dirhams, compared to 428.6 billion dirhams at the end of the fourth quarter of last year 2022.

The Central Bank clarified that the capital and reserves of banks do not include loans / secondary deposits / but they include profits for the current year.

According to the Central Bank, national banks acquired about 86% of the total capital and reserves of banks operating in the country, with a value of 370.1 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of this year, an increase on an annual basis of 8.5%, compared to about 341 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of 2022. .

The share of foreign banks reached 14% of the total capital and reserves of banks operating in the country, with a value of 60.6 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of this year, an annual increase of 11.2% compared to 54.5 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of 2022.

The Central Bank indicated that the capital and reserves of the banks of the Emirate of Dubai reached 208.3 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter, with an annual growth of 10.6%, while the capital and reserves of banks in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi amounted to about 189.7 billion dirhams, an annual increase of 8.5%, and the capital and reserves of banks in the other emirates reached about 32.7 billion. dirhams, an annual increase of 0.9%.

The capital and reserves of conventional banks in the country amounted to about 361 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter of this year, an increase on an annual basis by 9%, while the capital and reserves of Islamic banks amounted to about 69.7 billion dirhams, an increase on an annual basis of about 8.4%.
