5.85 million visitors to the Eiffel Tower in 2022, half of them Europeans, whose height rose 6 meters after installing a wireless antenna at its top.

The demand for the Eiffel Tower in France for the year 2022 returned to a level close to what it was in 2019 prior to the health crisis, as is the case with other Parisian landmarks, as the number of its visitors reached 5.85 million, according to what the “Cite” company announced on Friday.
And “Set” noted in a statement that the number of visitors, which amounted to 8.85 million, “unequivocally shows the return of foreign visitors.”
The “Covid-19” pandemic forced the Eiffel Tower to stop receiving visitors, who numbered seven million in 2014 and 6.2 million in 2019. The famous Parisian iron landmark was closed during the first quarantine period between mid-March and the end of June 2020, and then again. From the end of October 2020 to mid-July 2021.
It resumed its activity for only five and a half months in 2021, and received 2.1 million visitors at that time.
Europeans accounted for about half of the number of visitors to the tower in 2022, according to SITE, led by Italians and Spaniards (8 percent), followed by Germans and Britons (7 percent), then Belgians and Dutch (2 percent).
As for the Americans, who returned strongly to the French capital in 2022, they alone accounted for 11 percent of the total visitors, according to SITE.
And the major Parisian museums announced Thursday that the turnout for them in 2022 has increased significantly compared to 2021 and is approaching 2019 levels, as the number of visitors to the Louvre Museum reached 7.8 million, while the Palace of Versailles attracted 6.9 million.
In addition to the return of foreign tourists, the Eiffel Tower in 2022 witnessed the installation of a wireless antenna at its top, making it 330 meters high, six meters more than it was. A new restaurant, run by French chef Thierry Marx, has also opened. (AFP)
