5261 ATMs in the UAE by the end of June

 The number of ATMs of banks operating in the UAE rose to 5261 at the end of June, an increase of 42 compared to 5219 in the same month in 2017, according to the latest statistics released today by the Central Bank of the UAE. The continued increase in ATMs at banks in the country reflects the keenness of the banking system to continue its efforts aimed at automating its services and making it easier for customers. This banking service is considered one of the most important services that reduces the time and effort of customers in completing the withdrawal and deposit procedures. Central bank statistics showed that the number of national banks fell from 23 to 22 by the end of June as a result of the merger between First Gulf Bank and Abu Dhabi National Bank, which resulted in the emergence of the new entity, the First Abu Dhabi Bank. The number of its branches decreased from 816 to 755 in the same period. The number of electronic banking units of these banks decreased from 36 to 32 units and the number of exchange offices from 61 to 48 by the end of June. The number of GCC banks operating in the UAE remained at the same level at the end of the second quarter of this year, which is 6 banks with 4 branches, while the number of foreign banks increased from 20 to 21 banks while the number of branches declined from 81 to 77 branches and the number of electronic banking units From 29 to 21 units. By the end of the second quarter of 2018, the number of other financial institutions under the Central Bank’s license and control was 12 business banks, 99 representative offices, 26 finance companies, 128 exchange houses and 11 brokerage offices.
