5,279 ATMs operating in the UAE at the end of March, 2019

The number of ATMs operating in the UAE reached 5279 during the first quarter of 2019 compared to 5274 during the same period of 2018, according to the Central Bank of UAE.

The banks operating in the country are keen to provide electronic services to their customers, primarily ATM and ATM service as part of its efforts to automate its services to facilitate the customers and reduce the operating cost.

For its part, the Central Bank has continued its efforts for several years to fortify the ATMs, where he issued a number of circulars to banks operating in the state to upgrade the security of its devices by imposing certain requirements.

The Central Bank has succeeded in achieving significant achievements in terms of fortifying the ATMs from penetration, after the adoption during the past period of many procedures that banks must abide by, including the installation of a protective shield of spying on the PIN in all ATMs in the state.

In addition, the percentage of achievement was high in the field of installing cameras and monitoring the PINs registered at the ATMs of banks operating in the country in addition to the installation of anti-abrasion devices to prevent reading magnetic stripe data by scrappers.

It is noteworthy that the latest figures issued by the Central Bank for developments in the sector during the first quarter of this year showed that the number of national banks reached 22 banks . The number of branches decreased from 733 branches and the number of electronic banking units of these banks from March 32 2018 to 33 units during the same month of 2019
