592 billion dirhams worth of checks traded in the UAE within 5 months

 The number of checks processed through the Emirates Check Clearing System was 12.060 million during the first five months of 2018, amounting to about 592 billion dirhams, according to statistics released today by the Central Bank of UAE on checks activity in the UAE. The value of the checks, which were traded between January and the end of May, accounted for 39.3 percent of the total value of checks carried out throughout 2017 amounting to 1.5 trillion dirhams, reflecting the continued economic activity in the country. During the first five months of this year, Central Bank statistics showed that their number reached 515,000 checks, at a value of 26.2 billion dirhams, thus exceeding 4.3% of the total value of checks carried out at the end of May. the past. Central bank statistics showed that last May witnessed an increase in the circulation of checks, which amounted to 2.4 million checks at a value of 123.8 billion dirhams, a growth of 5.1% compared to the previous month, where the value of checks traded 117 billion dirhams.
