China’s economy grew by 6 percent in the third quarter of this year, the slowest rate in nearly three decades, the Chinese government announced today.
China’s economy slowed from a 6.2 percent growth rate in the second quarter, under pressure from falling domestic demand and a prolonged trade war with the United States for more than a year.
The US and Chinese negotiating teams reached a preliminary trade deal last week that would include Washington’s delay in imposing new tariffs. Beijing would eventually buy US $ 50 billion in US farm produce, but the deal has yet to be formally approved.
