Dubai hotel room revenues of 6.7 billion dirhams in 4 months exceeded pre-pandemic levels by 42%

Hotel establishments in Dubai achieved strong growth in available room revenue during the first four months of this year compared to pre-pandemic levels by 42%, to reach 6.73 billion dirhams, compared to 4.7 billion dirhams in the corresponding period of 2019.

The data showed that the revenues of hotel establishments in the emirate from the beginning of the year until the end of April 2023 increased by 9%, compared to 6.17 billion dirhams in the same period in 2022.

This increase came despite the fact that the number of visitors in the first four months of 2023 amounted to 6.02 million visitors, compared to 6.26 million visitors in the same period in 2019, and 5.1 million visitors from the same period in 2022.

This increase came, supported by the growth of hotel nights booked by 22% to 14.09 million nights, compared to 11.52 million nights in the same period in 2019, supported by an increase in average nights stayed by 13% to 3.5 nights.

Prices increased compared to 2019 levels by 22% to 599 dirhams, compared to 493 dirhams, while revenues on available rooms increased by 16% to 478 dirhams, compared to 412 dirhams.

The growth in revenues on available rooms coincided with an increase in the number of hotel establishments by 13% to 814 establishments at the end of April 2023, compared to 722 establishments at the end of April 2019, an increase of 92 new establishments in 4 years. The city’s hotel capacity increased by 26% to 148,949 hotel rooms, compared to 118,449 rooms at the end of April 2019, an increase of more than 30.5 thousand new hotel rooms.
