The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi announced the allocation of a budget of 600 million dirhams to enrich business activities and major festivals in Abu Dhabi.
The new budget is one of the strategic initiatives launched by the Department within the framework of the “Tomorrow 21” Development Accelerators Program, which aims to accelerate development efforts in the capital city and strengthen its position as one of the best cities in the world in business, investment, living, work and tourism. And the business sector.
“The launch of this vital initiative gives Abu Dhabi a new strategy to enhance its local and international presence by attracting the leading players in organizing business and leisure events and presenting them to the world as a distinct tourist destination with a diverse mix suitable for different audiences and visitors.
He added that the support provided by the government to the tourism sector, whether leisure or business, underscores the level of confidence that the Department’s wise leadership, projects and plans give in light of the great potential of Abu Dhabi and the continued attractiveness of investments driven by the continued growth of the tourism sector in the capital.
The Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism said that the “Tomorrow 21” program has succeeded in building a strategic partnership with the private sector as a pivotal partner in supporting economic growth and ensuring quality services and raising the standard of living in Abu Dhabi, including the cultural and tourism sectors, The capital and one of the key elements of the events that Abu Dhabi is keen to organize.
The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi is working to harmonize the projects and initiatives related to the new budget with the “Opportunities Abu Dhabi” program to develop existing events and attract international event organizers and entertainment companies to launch innovative and quality events on the ground of Abu Dhabi, which reinforces the agenda of entertainment events and entrepreneurship throughout the year .
Through this initiative, the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism seeks to expand Abu Dhabi’s opportunities and enhance its performance, which will reflect Abu Dhabi’s position as a world-class tourism, cultural and entertainment destination in line with the objectives of Tomorrow 21 to make Abu Dhabi one of the world’s best destinations.
The budget allocated for leisure tourism, business tourism and business tourism is distributed with entertainment, attracting group meetings and incentives, increasing the number of attendees to business tourism events and hosting tournaments, which will lead to uniting efforts with partners and organizers, bringing the total expected economic impact to about AED 1.6 billion.
The initiative promotes Abu Dhabi’s position as a world-class destination as it seeks to develop unique content for major events and festivals that the capital seeks to attract and host, as well as its annual grand events calendar, including the Umm Al-Emarat Festival, the Eid and Abu Dhabi Classic Music Festivals.
In a related context, the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi met with a group of local and international partners in the field of public and private sectors to discuss the best solutions that will contribute to the development of events and offers that serve the tourism sector and enrich the agenda of events in Abu Dhabi. Is essential in shaping the agenda of upcoming events to build solid content based on the sector’s considerations and capabilities and the global performance of the event sector.
The partners and potential beneficiaries of this initiative are Meral, ADNEC, Life Nation International, Informa Middle East, Flash Entertainment, IMG International, Messi Frankfurt Exhibitions and Conferences, Yas Marina Circuit and other event organizers.

Abu Dhabi has achieved a new record in 2018 compared to the last three years in terms of numbers of visitors and hotel guests. It has received more than 10 million visitors from around the world, with a growth rate of 3.94% in the number of hotel guests in the emirate compared to 2017 thanks to its well-established infrastructure, world-class amenities, and events and programs organized throughout the year.
