MediaIn 7 May 2018

India’s engineering exports reached an all-time high of US $ 76 billion during the period from 2017 to 2011, at a growth rate of nearly 17% year on year, thanks to strong performance of the sector in the previous fiscal year.

Engineering exports, which account for more than 25 percent of the country’s total merchandise exports, grew to $ 76.20 billion in the past fiscal year, compared with $ 65.23 billion in the period 2016-2017.

“The excellent performance of this sector is mainly due to the metal package even as the US remains at the forefront of our markets,” said Rafi Segal, Chairman of EEPC India.

Iron and steel exports grew 29.42 percent in April-March 2017-18 to $ 11.20 billion from $ 8.66 billion in the previous fiscal year.

Iron and steel products recorded an export growth of 14.82 per cent to reach US $ 6.76 billion during the period 2017-2018 compared to US $ 5.89 billion during the period 2016-17.
