Abu Dhabi trade of iron, steel and copper in 2017

Media In – Abu Dhabi, February 27, 2018

The value of trade in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from the iron, steel and copper industries to AED 22 billion in 2017 grew by about 4% compared to AED 21.16 billion in 2016.
Abu Dhabi’s trade accounted for 13.7% of the emirate’s total trade in 2017, amounting to AED 160 billion.
The growth in the emirate’s trade from these minerals reflected the activity witnessed by many economic sectors associated with these industries during the past year, as evidenced by statistics issued by the Abu Dhabi Statistics Center.
The increase in the demand for these minerals has contributed to the increase in the value of imports during the last year which reached 17.4 billion dirhams, an increase of 8.7% compared to 16 billion dirhams in 2016.
In terms of exports, the value of trade in re-exports of these minerals reached 250 billion dirhams at the end of last December, compared with AED 4.8 billion in 2016.
