AED 129.4 billion of foreign workers’ remittances abroad within 9 months

The value of foreign remittances in the UAE rose to 129.4 billion dirhams in the first nine months of this year, a growth of 7% compared to 121 billion dirhams in the same period of 2017.
According to the Central Bank of UAE (UAE), the increase in foreign remittances from the beginning of this year to the end of September, despite the decline in the third quarter of the same year, amounted to 41.4 billion dirhams compared to 43.3 billion dirhams in the third quarter of 2017 .
The value of foreign remittances executed through exchange companies amounted to AED 32.8 billion, constituting 79.2% of total remittances during the third quarter of 2018, while the rest was transferred through banks operating in the country.
The number of remittances rose to AED 14.8 billion, representing 35.7% of the total remittances recorded during the third quarter of this year. The employment of the Pakistani nationality came second with 8.6% at AED 3.56 billion. Then the Philippine labor remittances increased by 6.7% to AED 2.8 billion.
In terms of labor remittances from Egyptian nationality, they amounted to about 2 billion dirhams, while the employment of British nationality reached 1.7 billion dirhams, about 1.53 billion dirhams for the US citizenship campaign, about 1.3 for the Bengali nationality, 1.2 billion dirhams for employment from Jordanian nationality and 993 million dirhams for Swiss nationality, 746 million dirhams for Canadian citizenship.
