AED 80.1 billion worth of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil trade through the emirate’s ports within six months

 The value of foreign trade of non-oil goods through the ports of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi reached 80.1 billion dirhams during the first half of 2018, according to the latest figures released today by the Abu Dhabi Statistics Center, which showed the emirate’s trade growth by 30% in June. The statistics revealed many positive indicators that have been achieved in terms of trade of the Emirate, especially on the level of exports and re-exports, both during the first half of the year or the month of June in particular. Exports grew by 10.5% to AED 11.08 billion during the first six months of this year compared to AED 10.9 billion in the same period of 2017. The re-export trade increased by 10.5% after rising from AED 11.12 billion in the first half of last year to AED 12.3 billion in the same period of the year. On the other hand, imports declined to 56.7 billion dirhams at the end of June compared to 58.4 billion dirhams in the same month of 2017, a move that reflects the overall rationalization of consumption in the emirate. On a monthly basis, Abu Dhabi’s trade jumped to AED12.4 billion in June, up 30% from the same month in 2017, the highest monthly growth recorded by the emirate since the beginning of this year. Industrial supplies accounted for 89.3% of the emirate’s total trade during the first half of this year, amounting to AED 9.9 billion, while food exports amounted to AED 515 million and the rest of the value was distributed to other exports of the emirate. The largest share of the re-export trade of transport equipment and accessories, which amounted during the first half of 5.4 billion dirhams, followed by consumer goods worth 3.3 billion dirhams and productive goods 2.6 billion dirhams.
