Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.1% to 21,285.99, while in Hong Kong the Hang Seng also added 0.1% to 28,493.52.
The Kospi in South Korea edged less than 0.1% higher to 2,126.33.
Australia’s S&P ASX 200 picked up 0.2% to 6,665.40 and the Shanghai Composite index added 0.2% to 3,007.30. Shares fell in Southeast Asia.
Benchmark crude oil picked up 67 cents to $58.10 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It rose 0.6% to settle at $57.43 a barrel on Friday., ending with a 9.2% gain for the week, the biggest weekly gain in more than two years.
Brent crude oil, the international standard, climbed 43 cents to $64.88 per barrel.
The dollar rose to 107.43 Japanese yen from 107.30 yen on Friday. The euro climbed to $1.1383 from $1.1371.
