Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC), a Dubai Economic Corporation (DED), in cooperation with the International Trade Center (ITC), launched the Women in International Trade (MENA) program to coordinate and motivate efforts to create a stimulating environment for women’s entrepreneurship in the region.

The Women in International Trade – Middle East and North Africa (MENA) program, according to a press release obtained by MediaN.com, is part of the International Trade Center’s Women in International Trade Program to connect 1 million women to international markets by 2020.

The program aims to bring together policy makers, the business community and women’s organizations to take advantage of these channels to empower women in the commercial sector so that they have a macroeconomic return.

Research shows that women working in Arab countries and in the UAE increase household income by up to 25%. Thus, the equal number of women working with men will increase the country’s GDP up to 12%. Businesswomen tend to be more innovative, due to their ability to perceive opportunities in a different way.

“The UAE and Dubai are dedicated to supporting women in the commercial and other fields, as well as providing incentives to enhance competitiveness,” said Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of Dubai Economy. We seek not only to provide opportunities for businesswomen, but also to move and work on the interconnection of efforts and the provision of facilities that will enhance the competitiveness of women. The economic empowerment of women is an incentive to strengthen the economy in general, and all countries wish to grow and prosper their economy. ”

Al-Qamzi pointed out that businesswomen have 58.5% of the e-commerce licenses launched by Dubai Economy to enable UAE and GCC nationals living in Dubai to do business through social networking sites.
