Central Bank plans to issue a plastic currency by 2020

Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Tarek Amer said that the new plastic currency in which the bank intends to release the market by 2020 will be made of polymer, and the old times equivalent to the age of the current paper-based currencies.
He explained, “Amer”, in a press statement today, the plastic currency in place for decades, many countries, including major countries, such as Britain and others applied in Egypt is a positive thing for the movement of cash markets.
He said the plastic currency will contribute to reduce printing costs, improve traded stock level considerably as deteriorating paper currency state quickly after being traded, pointing out that plastic coin, will not be similar to metal currency or Alkwynz, but it will be in the paper currency in circulation size and with the same design.
