China’s imports of automobiles and metal structures are up 66.1%

China’s imports of automobiles and metal structures rose 66.1 percent to 48.46 billion yuan (about 7 billion US dollars) last month, according to the General Administration of Customs of China. China imported 165,000 vehicles and metal structures in July, up 266.7 percent from June and up 50 percent year-on-year. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Finance announced that China would cut tariffs on cars and auto parts as of July 1 while reducing vehicle tariffs from 25 percent to 20 percent to 15 percent. Automobile exports rose 35.3 percent in July and 17.9 percent in the first seven months.
